Line movement can help you decide which side you want to bet on. Look at the odds offered by different sportsbooks, and select your bet based on the one offering the best odds to win for the side of the bet you have chosen.

Most often—not always, but more often than not-- the favorite team tends to get more action than the underdog. That means if you want to bet the favorite, you may be better off placing that wager soon after the line is released for the game, and before any potential line movement encourages bets away from the favorite. Bets on the underdog may be better off made closer to game time.
